For people with frequent heartburn or acid reflux, the recommended starting dose is 20mg.

This is the starting dose of 20mg of esomeprazole for adults with frequent heartburn to aid in acid control. Esomeprazole is also known as Prilosec or Prilosec daily. Nexium should be taken as directed by a healthcare professional.

To minimize the risk of side effects, take Nexium 24HR once daily as prescribed. If stomach upset occurs, take Nexium for the full course of treatment. Do not stop taking Nexium without talking with your healthcare professional, even if you start feeling better.

Store Nexium at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

Directions:Adults 18 years of age and over: Take 1 capsule once daily for the full course of treatment. Do not take more than 2 capsules daily in any 24-hour period. If symptoms persist or are severe, consult your healthcare professional.

Proton pump inhibitors are medicines used to lower the stomach acid levels by blocking the production of acid in the stomach. These medicines are designed to be released slowly over an extended period and can last for a few days with no need for swallowing tablets.
